Precious Cornerstones
Referencing the family unit as the most fundamental and significant units in all societies. In whatever composition 'the family" is potentially the most dynamic influential core that can guide and shape each one of us through life.
Cornerstones are universally recognized as significant building blocks and used in this work's context as a metaphor to propose the capacity to expand, embrace, replicate, inspire and represent the founding framework of a caring and respectful society that benefits all humanity.

Inspired by the iconic photography of Dame Whina Cooper and her granddaughter Irenee taken by Michael Tubberty and published in the NZ Herald September 1975. Still topical in todays world of many conflicts, this is a metaphor that epitomizes the quest: The struggle to be heard, the struggle for justice... shining a leading light for all.
